My Summer Reading List

Spread the love

OK, don’t laugh! Well not too much! I know this is an unrealistic list, but you have to know how much I am looking forward to going to some large, public ENGLISH-speaking libraries while I am in the US. I am sure I can get through all the PB and most of the Middle Grade books! Some of the YA and adult I have as audiobooks ready for plane, train, bus etc and I suspect I shall hang out in some Indie stores (when I am not sightseeing, hiking, wine-tasting, conferencing, visiting friends.) and will be buying some of the books to take back with me. I am right in thinking time gets doubled on vacation, am I not? I appologize straight off for not doing the usual Amazon links to all these. Please do not give me any more ideas (well alright, if you must!). But If you can recommend a great library in NYC, Boston, LA or S/F please do so.

Have fun with these books, Joanna!
I just awarded you the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award. You can check it out at Books of Wonder and Wisdom, http://readaloudsforallchildren.wordpress.com/2011/07/16/pass-the-sugar-please/

Janice, thank you soo much. I am traveling at the moment but will respond as soon as I have a block of time 😉

  4. oh my! I colapsed in a heap infront of the screen after reading all that list. I have only 4 childrens books in my suitcase (its all I could manage)gulp! Where on earth will you find the time?
Happy reading on your travels and congrats on the sweet Blog Award, Joanna.

  5. Fabulous list! I’m sure you’d have no trouble with the picture books – I just read around 20+ this month if I’m not mistaken.

I’m glad you included Westing Game – trust me, though, it seems more like adult lit rather than middle grade – same with Moon Over Manifest which has moved me deeply.

One other book that I would recommend that has just made me go.. whoa – and one I am also planning on gushing over in gatheringbooks is David Almond’s My Name is Mina – I’d recommend though that you read Skellig first, also by David Almond. Both breathtakingly beautiful books.

    • Joanna says:

Am reading Thirteen Reasons Why at moment, a page-turner! I loved Skellig so will definitely look out for My Name is Mina… Yeah I’ll get through the PB’s and make a dent o the rest 😉
