Spread the love
Yahoo! PiBoIdMo 2012 has been and conquered – Yes, even Hurricane Sandy couldn’t stop her!  And I managed to bang out thirty-two ideas for picture books. It is such a good habit-making practice and I have had so much fun doing this. It forces me to write everything down on post-its, backs of envelopes, and trusty moleskin notebook, I now carry everywhere with me. Actually, I now have three notebooks so I always have one handy. I know most of these ideas are not cybils-winner material or even publishable, but one or two have some rich potential! Once again the community and crafty posts are more than worth the participation. Thank you Tara Lazar and I will most certainly be signing on the dotted line again next November! And you?

The age of the internet really has transformed the solitary writing life, and 2012 has seen my small writing community expand in quantity and quality across the globe. If PiBoIdMo weren’t enough, two other picture book-loving groups have blown my writerly socks to the moon this year (good job I am happiest barefoot!). HERE I have to give huge thanks for: the fellowship, learning and fun I have experienced through Susanna Leonard Hill’s Perfect Picture Book Friday blogging-gang, and to Julie Foster Hedlund and her 12 picture book drafts in 12 months in 2012 challenge and community! You gals and all my PB friends rock socks!

12x12in12

 January – Julie’s call,
“12×12 in 12, y’all!”
February blasted through.
Draft completed – Number 2!
March in time, left, write, left, write.
Third idea crafted tight.
 April – showered with ideas.
plagued with rhyme and meter fears!
May – SNOW GAMES at last is out.
Published author – worth a shout!
June danced in with prose in streams.
Jotting down ideas from dreams.
July invites non-fiction pages,
more research than done for ages.
August – pace slows in the sun.
It’s not a race. Enjoy the fun!
September – Reeling – changing nation.
New milieu – new inspiration.
October – Zilch! Zero! Nyet!
First month to fail the challenge yet! 🙁
November PiBoIdMo struck!
30 jots! 2 drafts! What luck!
December – Thanks to all the group.
Lets hear a cheer for Julie. WHOOP!

I also could not let the 12th of the 12th, 2012 slip past without wishing JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE to my fiend, Beth Stilborn — a talented writer, faithful friend, and generous facilitator.
