Opening Lines:
Once upon a rock-and-roll time, three bears in a band jammed with ease. The Papa Bear drummed, the Mama Bear strummed, and Baby bear tickled the keys,
Synopsis: A Bear family, composed of a mama, papa and their baby play in a cool rock n roll band, but the one thing they lack is a lead singer. Auditions begin, but frankly Little Red, The Three Pigs et al don’t have the perfect pitch they need in their front vocalist! While the band auditions are being held in a hall, back at the bear’s place, a young uninvited girl is playing with all their gear and eventually falls asleep on Baby Bear’s keyboard. Could the slumbering blonde sprawled on the ivories be the answer to their soprano needs?
Why I like this book: This rhyme has rhythm and beat to satisfy the most musical ear. Thenauthors truly rock their rhyme,which bounces off the tongue to narrate a modern, musical, fun version to the old classic fairy tale. It is a perfect blend of the original story with an upbeat 21st century feel and melodious spin? A superb read-aloud. I never tripped once over the verses and paused just enough for my eager page turns! Nate’s pencil and digital illustrations add a cartoony jazz and warmth to the story. This is another great fairytale mashup to add to your shelves.
