It has been a few weeks since I took part in Danielle’s Saturday Me(me) from There’s a Book, but this weekend’s question was too irresistible for an outdoor freak like me.
This Week’s Question: What outdoor activities do you like to do?
One of the reasons I live on the Mediterranean and near the Southern Alps is because, for example, in winter I can be skiing on a Saturday and sea kayaking in a t-shirt on a Sunday.
I like to live outside and I love being active and taking the time to discover more of the natural world around me, so some of my favourite activities are: hiking, sailing, kayaking in summer and snowshoeing/crosscountry and downhill skiing in winter.
Some of the fun outdoor activities I have tried since living here are: canyoning
and via ferrata (this was my first about 7 years ago and yes, I was s*** scared).
So tell me, what do you enjoy doing outdoors?
Well being dutch I bike of course, but I actually like it, swimming, hiking, sailing but it has been a while.
Hi Joke, thanks for dropping by. I so loved biking from Heerde through the woods to Heidebeek when I lived there. Where do you sail?
What great shots! It looks like so much fun, even for someone like me who is totally klutzy.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Thanks, Laurel. Probably half the fun is doing it with a cool bunch of friends. I will try most things once except stuff like bungy jumping, as I really am too scared of heights for that!
Oh my, your climbing photo made my stomach flip flop. But, they are great photos. Should skip this one. I to love to walk and can do that. I love being by the sea and walking. But, my many years of figure skating, skiing and swimming are over. I preferred sports that were more artistic.
You know, walking remains a continua favorite of mine, too, Pat. Have never tried figure skating though did a little ice skating along the canals when I lived in the Netherlands – great fun.
Oh I love this. What fantastic photos, and yes like Pat I will pass on the climbing, sorry but you will not get me into a climbing expedition. I think you will fit right in down here Joanna as we have skiing both snow and water, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, white and black water rapids, cave climbing etc.
I usually settle for walking, hiking, sailing, snow skiing (though not very good), swiming, picnics at the beach and gardening, oh and bike riding when in the mood.
I think I would adore New Zealand, Diane, with all it has to offer. White water rafting is a bunch of fun! I think I need to add that I am no expert at any of these activities, just enjoy getting out there and trying new things. Swimming, picnics on the beach and gardening – all wonderful outdoor activities.
Jumping into that water does look like fun! I’d love to live in that part of Europe, it’s so close to so many amazing things!
Hi crystal, yes canyoning is great fun but a wee bit dangerous! I am indeed incredibly blessed in where I live 🙂
How incredible! You have got to be one of the bravest people I’ve ever seen. I absolutely love the snow and my hubby is a huge snowboarder so I’m hoping we’ll get to be near the mountains again soon. It’s really quite a lot of fun!
Love all of your pictures! They all look like so much fun!
Hi Danielle, and thank you. I think I am just lucky to have so many opprtunities here to try new things. Sure hope you get some opportunities to head to the snow next winter.
I LOVELOVELOVE the photos! Gosh, I wish I was as outdoorsy as you are.
For myself, I enjoy running (which I haven’t done for a loong while, too many conferences in the past few months). I love mountain climbing too if the opportunity presents itself (climbed Grouse Mountain while I was in Vancouver). Does yoga or pilates count? Hahaha. Because I enjoy that as well. And yup, badminton. Other than that, I’m just your regular geek.
THANKS, Myra 🙂 I also love running, and have enjoyed some marathons and trail races. I googled Grouse Mountain and it looks wonderful, especially as it includes a wilderness for endangered wildlife. I would be in heaven.
