Synopsis:
This is a delightful slice of life picture book of a young zebra’s cherished times with her grandparents, told from a first person POV in rhyming couplets.
Why I like this book:
This is a fun-filled love-filled zebra romp about the affectionate moments and activities a little one shares with its grandparents.
The illustrations are bright and zany and will appeal to young readers. There are some lovely Mary Poppins moments like bottomless grandma handbags with everything you might need to entertain a littl’un, though I would have liked to see less stereotypical gender activities that the Grandma and Grandpa do with their grandchild.
A perfect feel-good family story time read and gift!
Activities/resources:
Have children paint a family picture with grandparents/older care givers but represented by the animal of their choice.
Each week a group of bloggers reviews picture books we feel would make great educational reads. To help teachers, caregivers and parents, we have included resources and/or activities with each of our reviews. A complete list of the thousands of books we have reviewed can be found sorted alphabetically and by topics, here on Susanna Leonard Hill’s website.
